Where did I see goodness?
I will admit it. I am a creature attracted to warmth. My favorite season is spring, when in New England you can watch a day-by-day awakening of things. Each day is longer than the one before, the vernal pools are green and full of all sorts of life, and even the air seems to join me in my revelry.
So I am sitting here, kind of being drawn into the funk of cold-temperature-comparison. I mean, everything seems slow and cold. I’m facing my half-finished vision board, casting about for a lifeline. Picture of RE/MAX 2009 Convention? May not go. Castle in Tuscany? Interesting, but not attitude changing. Then I see across a card that my accountability partner sent to my with several guidelines printed on it.
The last bulletpoint is “Where did I see goodness today?”
Really. After all, weather is like riding a wave- you can’t control the water, only your reaction to it. And your reaction is the difference between getting smacked on the head by a ton of water and actually surfing the thing. Which reaction confers more power?
Goodness. There is goodness everywhere- in the fact that my children are healthy enough to argue with each other, the fact that we really ARE warm enough, and well-fed, despite the pizza box evidence to the contrary. We have a roof over our heads, and it must be okay because I haven’t put anything different up on the old vision board.
In fact, there’s not too much on the vision board. I guess life must be pretty good. I’m on top of the wave today, and I’ll get out there and get back on tomorrow, despite market factors, despite the cold.
Where did you see goodness today?
