Barbie loves Ken

I was always the awkward one in school- like in the Ting Ting’s song, I was always “the last chick standing up against the wall.”
So, good enough. Lately, though, I have been feeling more in the loop. I mean, after all, I AM on twitter and have that information live-streaming at me day and night.
What a surprise when I happened upon Google’s Hot Trends. Not one mention of #1stdraftmovielines (mine: ET tweet home), any of the RE BarCamps, or Big Hair Thursdays. I DID know that Harry Potter was trending, and knew LaToya Jackson had been interviewed. But the tony romo and jessica simpson break up ? Sorry, I didn’t even know that they were breaking up. And sensai cleanser is an apparently “on fire” topic:

There didn’t appear to be much cross-over between twitter trending topics and Google’s, so I decided I had better peruse the Google list in case I was stuck in an elevator again and at a loss for conversational topics. I was doing okay when the outrage meter picked up this : tattoo barbie.

WTH? At the risk of alienating the 7% of the population that I haven’t yet offended, I have never been a Barbie fan. When she said, “Math is hard!”, her skinny plastic ass was banned from my house- I just didn’t want her near my children, male or female.

It wasn’t like I was surprised that Barbie had jumped on the ink bandwagon.  And I don’t have anything against tattoos on general principles- my daughter has a largish one that she designed herself using a Picasso drawing as the jumping-off point.

But really:

So the way I see it is this. I think I will leave the trends outside of my chosen arena where I found them- outside. I spend enough time being angry.

And I think I need Miley Cyrus to endorse my blog.  Hey, Miley, do a sister a favor, will you?
