When I was a little shaver living in Bolton, we always looked forward to the Bolton Fair coming in the fall, after the start of school. It was a tradition for me – and for many of my friends, as I found out when posting about the Fair on Facebook. So many of us remembered entering something in the fair and winning ribbons. or just wandering around eating, watching the animals and playing. I won a blue ribbon for my bread recipe when I was maybe 10 years old.

But enough about my precociousness. The time and place of the Bolton Fair has changed. If you were planning on going to the Fair in the fall, better rewrite your plans. The Bolton Fair is held for 4 days in August now – August 12-15 this year, to be exact. And it is now located in Lancaster, on 318 Seven Bridge Rd.

Anyone who has ever been to the Fair knows that there is so much to do that it’s impossible to be bored. Food, vendors, lots of Farm stuff – it is a traditional New England Harvest Festival, except that it comes in the summer now. A schedule of events can be found at the  Bolton Fair site.

One thing I have not seen before is Granny’s Racing Pigs. That may be worth the price of admission.

I live in Shirley now – have for more than 25 years, and I would have to say I still miss Bolton. What a pretty town!
