Thanks to Susie Blackmon for pointing this out to me.
What makes a dream home? I can remember when I was a kid sitting for hours with a pencil and paper plotting out the location of the exercise room and the pet room. When I did this with my art class students, there were similarly unusual choices – McDonald’s rooms, passageways that looked like Habitrails and plenty of other rooms that seemed cool but would actually never be used. Just like in many real homes.
The video clip below refers to the book The Not So Big House. I like the idea of less space, and more creative use. IN our area, it saves on energy bills and just makes better sense.
I had found the perfect house plan once- well, perfect for me. Three bedrooms up, huge eat-in kitchen downstairs (how often is that dining room used anyway?). Fireplace in kitchen area. This plan isn’t exactly it, but it is similar – although the bedroom structure is different, the master suite is private, and I like that.
Other homes I like:
I think it is a good sign that dreams and budgets are aligning.
