Love in Real Estate
Three streams came together for me over the past few days.
At Agent Reboot, Daniel Rothamel spoke about making sure that you instill what you do professionally with love. A post that he had written about that can be found here.
At PodCamp CT yesterday, Michelle Riggen-Ransom of BatchBlue gave a presentation about online policy. Among the things she mentioned were:
- Great customer experience – by connection
- Be a good listener
- Be good at sharing
- Foster community
Then I got home, tired, and pulled out a book that I had been sent from Florida called 31 Powerful Strategies for Orlando Florida Real Estate Agents EXPOSED by Chris Brown. Long title, but the ideas apply to agents anywhere. The very first section, after the intro about squirrels, wrote about finding what you love and what motivates you.
Passion is, it appears to me, the fire that turns sand to glass. It is what propels a real estate agent to show that 35th home with a smile on her face, makes the coder’s 70th hour that week in front of the computer screen seem like the first, makes the creation of that 500th blog post cause for celebration. Passion transcends ROI in a big way, in my opinion.
Or complements it. Because if you love what you do and love the people around you (and are competent at what you do – that should go without saying), people will want to work with you. And work will be that much more integrated with your life, instead of being the reason that you hate to wake up on Mondays.
Note to self – commit to finding passion, or sharing it, this chilly (in Massachusetts) Monday!
